Found the answer from my readings. Animals do not have extensive foldings for their cerebral cortex like humans. With the extensive foldings in cerebral cortex, millions more neurons are present.
This is the human brain with extensive foldings.
This is the cat brain with less foldings in cerebral cortex.^^
