Our topic is about diarrhea, I am the narrator, jun is the pharmacist and ling is the patient.
Pharmacist: Good morning, Can I help u?
Patient: This is my prescription.
Pharmacist: Let’s see. You are prescribed for loperamide. So, what had happened to you?
Patient: I am having a diarrhea since last night.
Pha: Are u having any other medications now?
Patient: No
Pha: Are u pregnant or in breast feeding?
Patient: No
( We need to know the confirm the condition of patient like hving any other medications or in pregnancy in order to prevent any interactions)
Pharmacist: Alright. This is an anti-diarrhaoea tablet. You have to take two tablets initially, and one tablet when required for up to five days. Do not take more than 8 tablets a day.
Patient: Ok.
(loperamide 1 tablet is 2mg, maximum doses for one day is 16mg which equal to 8 tablets)
Pharmacist: Would you like to have some ORS? It is to avoid dehydration.
Patient: Yes please. How can I take that?
Pharmacist: Just add them to a glass of water and drink it..
(the pharmacist is suggesting her patient with Oral rehydration salt that is ORS which provide the correct balance of water, salt and sugar to avoid excess water loss due to diarrhea.)
Patient: What else should I do?
Pharmacist: Drink more water and eat high carbohydrate food as soon as u can have it.
Patient : OK.
Pharmacist: Do you have any other problems?
Patient : I think should be ok.
Pharmacist: If u cant remember the dose, please refer to the label and leaflet provided in the box.
