Get you home

"I am gona get you home." Nikita to Liza in Season 3 Episode 2.

For whatever reason, I like this part. Helping people physically and mentally. Returning people to their families, safe and healthy. What's happier than reunion with family?

Gona be my aim and mission as a future pharmacist? GOD plans all. <3 p="p">

how do NSAID causes peptic ulcer?

NSAID inhibits COX1 and COX2, that produces prostagladins which lead to fever, pain and inflammations in body. COX 1 also produces stomach lining which protects stomach from acids and control bleeding. By inhibiting COX 1 and COX2, the risk of bleeding and peptic ulcer increases when NSAID is used.

Role play 112

For MPH112 seminar tomorrow, Kui Lin, Xiao Hui and I are going to do role play as pharmacist, patient with diarrhoea and a narrator.

Our conversation is planned as below:

Our topic is about diarrhea, I am the narrator, jun is the pharmacist and ling is the patient.

Pharmacist: Good morning, Can I help u?

Patient: This is my prescription.

Pharmacist: Let’s see. You are prescribed for loperamide. So, what had happened to you?

Patient: I am having a diarrhea since last night.

Pha: Are u having any other medications now?

Patient: No

Pha: Are u pregnant or in breast feeding?

Patient: No

( We need to know the confirm the condition of patient like hving any other medications or in pregnancy in order to prevent any interactions)

Pharmacist: Alright. This is an anti-diarrhaoea tablet. You have to take two tablets initially, and one tablet when required for up to five days. Do not take more than 8 tablets a day.

Patient: Ok.

(loperamide 1 tablet is 2mg, maximum doses for one day is 16mg which equal to 8 tablets)

Pharmacist: Would you like to have some ORS? It is to avoid dehydration.

Patient: Yes please. How can I take that?

Pharmacist: Just add them to a glass of water and drink it..

(the pharmacist is suggesting her patient with Oral rehydration salt that is ORS which provide the correct balance of water, salt and sugar to avoid excess water loss due to diarrhea.)

Patient: What else should I do?

Pharmacist: Drink more water and eat high carbohydrate food as soon as u can have it.

Patient : OK.

Pharmacist: Do you have any other problems?

Patient : I think should be ok.

Pharmacist: If u cant remember the dose, please refer to the label and leaflet provided in the box.

Patient: Thanks! Bye…

Maggot Therapy

I tried very hard to concentrate on Dr. Rebecca's lecture on natural source of medicine. This is what I got-- Maggot Therapy! It is an alternative way to treat diabetes patients instead of undergoing amputation of their decaying legs.

Click and have a look till the end. =]

Cheers!

Suppositories

Hei hei, these are the suppositories I had in MPH112 dispensing lab class. Supposed not to be taken home, but who knows why, they are here!!

Those with jelly yellow color are gelatin infant suppositories for rectal administration and the blue one, which is copper sulphate suppository is for research use!

Physiological salt

We're doing saline which is in right range of pH (pH 7.35-7.45) and is suitable to be injected into our intravascular fluid..^^

Setting: Dale 142 for MPH113 pharmacology physiological salt lab class
